Where do the stars go in the daytime?
It may seem like stars appear out of nowhere after sunset and then disappear at dawn, but as the star trails in Figure 2.1 suggest, stars are always following circular paths through the local sky, with some paths always above the horizon and some rising in the east and setting in the west. So where do the stars go in the daytime? The answer is that they are still there, but they are too dim to see in the bright daytime sky, In fact, with a telescope you can still see some stars in the daytime. You can also see stars in the daytime if you are fortunately enough to experience a total solar eclipse.
